Wyze finally entered the field of light strips, this budget smart home manufacturer announced the launch of a pair of monochrome and multi-color LED light strips, which can be used with Alexa and Google Assistant at the same time.
The Wyze Light StripRemove non-product link is now accepting pre-orders and is scheduled to be shipped in September. It is 5 meters and 10 meters long (16.4 and 32.8 feet), and can emit light in a single color (supports up to 16 million). The 5-meter version is priced at US$26, while the 10-meter version is priced at US$36, which is much cheaper than many competing LED strips with smart features.
At the same time, Wyze Light Strip ProRemove non-product links can display up to 16 different colors at the same time, and have "advanced" lighting effects. The five-meter Light Strip Pro is scheduled to ship in October and will be priced at $31, and the 10-foot-long Light Strip Pro is $45.
Both Light Strip and Light Strip Pro are connected via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, just like other Wyze smart lights, neither of these two light bars require a hub.
Both stripping and pasting light strips can be used with Alexa and Google Assistant, which means you can control them with voice commands and include them in Alexa and Google smart routines.
The Wyze Light Strip can only emit one color of light at a time, while the Light Strip Pro (pictured) can emit up to 16 colors at a time.
You can also use the Wyze app to create schedules, sleep programs, timers, and automations. The holiday mode sets the strips to turn on and off at random times, while the "sun matching" mode changes the color temperature of the strips according to the time of day. Finally, the strip can use the built-in microphone to synchronize the lights with the music.
Wyze Light Strip and Light Strip Pro can be trimmed with scissors, but they cannot be made longer by connecting two light strips; other smart light strips we have tested, such as the more expensive Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus, can be connected to Together to form a longer light strip.
Although the owners of Light Strip and Light Strip Pro cannot connect them together by themselves, Wyze pointed out that their 10-meter LED strips are actually a pair of 5-meter strips connected by a central controller.
Another limitation is that the light bar cannot be combined with other Wyze smart bulbs (such as Wyze Bulb or Bulb Color); however, Wyze stated that it is "working for the near future."
Neither Light Strip nor Light Strip Pro is designed for outdoor use; that is, the Pro model has a "protective" epoxy coating.
